Phil Thompson has been a Registered Environmental Health Specialist in North Carolina since 1990 and currently serves as Program Manager for the Pools, Tattoos, and State Institutions Program within the Division of Public Health of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
Between 1999 and 2015, Phil served as a Regional Environmental Health Specialist within the same program covering 24 counties in the Piedmont Region of North Carolina. Prior to his employment with the State of North Carolina, Phil served as an Environmental Health Specialist with the Alamance County Health Department. He graduated with a BA in Geography from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2014, Governor Pat McCrory appointed Phil to the North Carolina State Board of Environmental Health Specialist Examiners, and in 2018, Governor Roy Cooper reappointed Phil to a second term on the Board.
