In accordance with NC Rule 21 NCAC 62 .0407(f), Registered Environmental Health Specialists and Environmental Health Specialist Interns must successfully complete at least 15 clock hours of continuing education annually to renew their registration. A maximum of five (5) hours can be carried forward from the immediate previous year.
The Board routinely approves in-person and virtual/online courses including, but not limited to, district educational meetings, conference education, teleconferences, and college courses and those developed and provided through the North Carolina State of Practice Committee (NCEHSOP). All requests for new courses or education opportunities should be made using the application form. The Board’s Education Committee evaluates and determines which courses, meetings, etc. meet continuing educational requirements.

On the RSTAS website, Con Ed page, click the 2021 hyperlink in the rectangle on the right-hand side of the page, and a spreadsheet that contains all the approved CEs for the year will pop up.
Important Reminder – At renewal time, make sure to include your certificates for completed courses in your annual registration renewal packet. If you attend a course in person, make sure to sign the roster provided by the course provider.
Attendance or participation in various educational settings must be documented in some fashion. This may include completion certificates, course final grades, electronic registrations, or a Board meeting register provided by course sponsors for use by participants.
